Timber frames have been a way of building for years, but often people dismiss using them for fear they’re not as robust as standard building methods. That’s where we come in. At Elmtree, we love to build using timber frames for many reasons; here are just a few –
We have recently opened our very own workshop in Nailsworth, which gives us a place to build all year round. This means no matter the weather, we have somewhere dry to construct your project so that it’s ready to go when the weather breaks. This means we can assemble at your home and be in the dry in just a few days. This then allows us to get on with the internal work so that your project is ready as quickly as possible for you to enjoy.
Using wood to build comes with many benefits, the biggest being its insulating properties. Timber is a poor conductor of heat, which means it can contain more heat for longer periods and eliminates the need for excess insulation. The result? A warmer and more energy-efficient home all year round.
A common misconception is that timber frames aren’t built for longevity, but that’s not the case. Timber frames can last just as long as a traditionally built home. The timber provides the inner structure, while the outside can be finished in brick, stone, render or any type of cladding—so you still get the appearance of a traditional home, with the added efficiency of a timber frame.
For smaller jobs, we handle quotes ourselves and always aim to keep our prices fair. With larger projects, we use an external, impartial quantity surveyor who works off national average rates to make sure your quote is accurate and realistic. If someone else comes in much cheaper, chances are they’re leaving things out. We don’t do that. Our quotes are transparent, which eliminates any nasty surprises later. If we give you a price, then that is what you pay without question.
Anything. There is no limit to what we can build (within reason!). From a garden patio to a turnkey new build, we have you covered. We have a strong team of tradesmen with over 150 years’ experience covering every trade within the industry and trusted partners to cover the bits we don’t do, such as electrical and gas work. We’ve worked on multiple projects over the years that have allowed us to gain the knowledge and skills to build a huge range of construction solutions specific to whatever your needs may be.
